The folding tables taken over from the previous owner were in a terrible condition. The legs on the one table were broken and the table was supported by clamping it to another table!
I tried a paint recommended by Home Depot which did not look good. After some investigation I ordered a high gloss polyurethane paint, “Interlux” from Wholesale Marine. Their prices are very reasonable, have a great website Wholesale Marine and great to do business with. This is a photo of a newly painted table:
